Licensure, Malpractice Insurance and Registration/Application
Only Licensed Acupuncturists (and Registered Acupuncturists for Canadian residents, or acupuncturists appropriately credentialed per their country of practice) are eligible to participate in this program.
Licensure: The state of Massachusetts requires that only permanently or temporarily licensed acupuncturists in MA may needle in the state unless they are enrolled in an acupuncture training program such as this Post-Graduate Certificate Program.
Malpractice Insurance: Students in any part of this program will need to have malpractice insurance. This can be either your existing policy where you are covered in Massachusetts and name NESA as an additional insured, or for you to be covered directly under NESA's policy. Either way is simple and at extremely low cost.
Please see the three categories below to see which fits your licensure and malpractice status. Submitting your registration or application is simple and takes just a few minutes. Contact us if you have any questions and we can easily assist you!
If you hold a current MA acupuncture license and HAVE malpractice insurance in MA: Register as you would for any other CE program; you do not need to complete an application form. For malpractice insurance, you can either add NESA as an additional insured on your malpractice policy (contact your malpractice insurance carrier and they will add NESA for a very low fee - the American Acupuncture Council charges 5% of your premium, not to exceed $35) or we can add you onto NESA's malpractice insurance for a fee of $20. Please submit a copy of an endorsement from your insurance company that shows NESA as an additional insured, or the $20 fee to be added directly to NESA's policy with your regular CE registration and a copy of your current MA acupuncture license.
If you hold a current MA acupuncture license and DO NOT HAVE have malpractice insurance in MA: Register as you would for any other CE program; you do not need to complete an application form. We will need to add you to NESA's malpractice insurance for a fee of $20. Please submit this fee with your regular CE registration and a copy of your current MA acupuncture license.
If you do not hold a current MA acupuncture license: You will need to complete a brief application form instead of a regular CE registration form. Because of MA requirements, we must enroll you in our Post-Graduate Certificate Program to allow you to needle (this will also give you NESA library privileges). We will need to add you to NESA's malpractice insurance for a fee of $20. Please submit this fee with your application and a copy of your current acupuncture license or registration from your state or country. Click here for application.
