"I transferred to NESA for lifestyle issues. Additionally, NESA offers strong herbal training, a strong Japanese track - which is rare - and a great amount of available externships - also rare."

Nicole Maniez,
Student

Transferring Credit

Transfer credit may be awarded for academic experiences from other appropriately-credentialed academic institutions that meet or exceed the course requirements at NESA.

NESA accepts transfer credit for science courses as well as certain core courses. Courses must be passed with a grade of a 70% or better, cover equivalent content, and must be at least 85% of the NESA course hours.

Transfer Students

Student wishing to transfer from another acupuncture and Oriental medicine program should apply as transfer students and submit a course catalog and syllabi for all completed coursework. Transfer applicants should submit their materials as early as possible to allow adequate time for review.

All transfer students will be required to complete two academic years of their acupuncture and/or Oriental medicine education at NESA. Clinical assistantship credit is transferable but clinical internship credit is not.

Placement exams may also be required to assess competency in transferred courses. In some cases, transfer students are required to begin their study at NESA with tutorials or first-year courses to cover material that was not sufficiently covered elsewhere.

Process

All incoming student transcripts are reviewed for transfer eligibility upon application. As part of the enrollment process, students review the courses for which they are eligible for transfer credit and accept or decline the credit at that time.

A transfer fee of $10/credit is assessed for core and track courses when credits are officially recorded on the transcript as transfer; for most students, this fee would be assessed upon the first-term registration, and then on an ongoing basis, when any other official transcripts arrive.

Questions about the transfer process should be directed to the Admissions Department, which can be reached at admissions@nesa.edu or (617) 558-1788 x105.
